Previously on The Bachelor
, Jason Mesnick
had a super romantic date with Natalie
, but he didn't feel a strong connection with her and sent her home. The claws came out at the Rose Ceremony during which some women turning against each other. There are nine women left on The Bachelor
, and the whole beginning of the episode shows us exactly what we will be seeing in the next two hours, practically ruining the surprise. For example, Molly
gets a one-on-one date that lasts throughout the night, if you know what I mean.
Chris Harrison opens the episode by telling the women that this week, there will be a one-on-one date this week, a group date, and a special two-on-one date in which only one woman will get a rose. To help Jason decide who gets the one-on-one, the women must write and perform an original love song, and he'll pick his favorite. The women only got 30 minutes to write it, and everyone rushes to write their songs. Molly's going the funny route, Stephanie
's going the cheesy Josh Groban route, Shannon writes a rap song (just like Jason wrote for DeAnna Pappas
when he was on The Bachelorette
), and Nikki
just freaks out. She has a panic attack because she is terrified of singing and she can't let go and be silly like some of the other women can.
After the allotted 30 minutes, Jason comes in with some fetching stubble on his chin. Molly volunteers to go first, and her song is kind of cute, making allusions to fast food. Shannon's rap is also actually pretty clever. Everyone's song is silly and amateurish but really fun, except for Lauren
's, which is something I can see some American Idol contestant singing, but it's not exactly my cup of tea. You can tell how proud of herself she is over her song. Nikki doesn't sing a love sing – it's a lullabye that she'd like to sing to her baby some day. She's really shy and off-pitch, but it was a really nice effort.
Jason picks Molly because she had Jason participate in the song. Lauren is pissed off because she thought that she really had the best song. I think Molly is super-cute and I'm glad she won.
Molly gets a note explaining her date, which hints at staying in with Jason. She packs all her belongings in preparation for the date, just in case she doesn't get a rose and has to leave immediately. Jason shows up dressed casually to pick her up, while all the other women speculate on whether they will kiss again.
Jason takes Molly back to his pad, where a picnic dinner is laid out on the living room floor. Jason asks Molly about what her next step is, and she says that she wants to be in a serious, committed relationship.
, Lauren, Shannon, Megan
are invited on the group date to “play doctor,” which leaves Nikki and Stephanie for the two-on-one date. Nikki gets on my nerves for starting to cry again. This time, it's because she doesn't want to go against Shannon on the two-on-one because she is afraid that Stephanie will best her.
