The Apprentice returned to NBC tonight with its first ever celebrity edition.  Here's what went down:

Donald Trump calls the celebrity contestants “fourteen of the most successful celebrities in the world.”  Bit of an overstatement, Donald?  I'll tell you this much, though – every time I hear the theme song by The O'Jays, I get pumped.  That bass line is chill-inducing.  The show starts with the stars at the New York Mercantile Exchange, Trump explaining how each on of the celebrities are commodities.  They're all playing for charities, but you knew that already.  The teams are divided by sex, male versus female.  Omarosa speaks out immediately that she wants to be Project Manager.  The teams head back to the Trump Tower to decide who will be the first PM. 

Nely Galan brought novelty hats and props for the ladies.  Weird.  The ladies discuss team names.  Omarosa shows why everyone hates her early on.  The guys discuss their names – Stephen Baldwin immediately lets us know that Gene Simmons is the man.  Simmons comes up with the name Hydra, a mythic seven-headed creature that even Hercules couldn't defeat.  Hydra actually is a sweet name. 

The ladies decide to let Omarosa be the first Project Manager, citing her experience in the game.  The contestants enter the board room.  The ladies have gone with Team Empresario.  Stephen Baldwin is the PM for Hydra.  They get their first task – the teams are going to sell hot dogs.  The team who sells the most hot dogs wins.  Simple.  The teams will also select their own location, which should be key. 

Carol Alt, the only New Yorker, decides the location – near Penn Station, near the subway, near Madison Square Garden.  Omarosa raises some eyes by wanting to not focus on celebrity, but on the product.  When the product is hot dogs, and you have Jennie Finch, Tiffany Fallon and Carol Alt to utilize.  The guys take the exact opposite approach – sell the hot dog, with the pictures and autographs to go along with it for a ton of money.  Gene Simmons, the bad ass that he is, starts calling celebrities and gets them to agree to show up and buy hot dogs for charity, for upwards of $5,000.  That's genius. 

The ladies are all dressed the same, all-American theme, wearing hats.  The ladies start selling at $5, then starts moving up to hundreds of dollars.  Trump and Mayor Mike Bloomberg show up to see what's up.  At the men's stand, Lennox Lewis and Tito Ortiz spar.  Piers is a hard-ass about getting money out of non-famous people, often turning down offers for five and ten bucks.  It's unclear whether Gene's guys will actually show up.  Hydra's stand starts picking up – the word has gotten out about the celebrities being there.  When Bloomberg and Trump show up, it's madness.  It's a zoo. 

The women's stand isn't doing all that well.  Omarosa isn't happy with Tiffany's sales abilities.  Marilu calls some high roller and gets a $5,000 donation from some anonymous rich dude.  Then they get another five G's.  That's pretty cheap. 

Then Jenna Jameson shows up to support the cause, cause she's Tito's girlfriend.  She pays two hundred bucks.  Then one of Gene's dudes shows up and buys a dog for $5,000.  Another one buys one for five G's.  Then another. 

At Empresario, Jennie gets New York Met David Wright to show up.  He buys the rest of the cart out and hands them out to people on the street.  It's unclear how much he paid for them, though. 

With the task over, the teams head to the board room that night to find out who won.  Donald asks Tito if he'll marry Jenna, and then implores him to get a pre-nup.  The results are revealed – Hydra destroys Empresario, selling $52,000 versus $17,000.  Omarosa is immediately put on trial, and she and Piers get into a spat.  Trump reveals that all the money raised during the task will go to the PM's charity.  Baldwin's charity goes to his mother's Breast Cancer research fund. 

Trump sends the guys out of the room, though they get to watch the women in the board room in their own “War Room” which is a cool little twist.  Omarosa says that the implementation of the plan was poor.  She praises Marilu, who brought in sixty percent of the profits via her two big donations.  Gene Simmons, in the war room, compares Omarosa to a cockroach. 

Omarosa is targeting Tiffany Fallon.  She was disappointed in Tiffany not using her “product.”  Nely, annoyingly, gives Omarosa praise for her leadership.  She and Omarosa both talk smack about Tiffany.  Next, the criticism of Carol comes because of what the Trumps consider a poor choice of location.  Omarosa chooses Carol and Tiffany to join her in the final board room.  The ladies leave and Trump deliberates with his children. 

Omarosa does a great job of defending herself, even if it's hopelessly transparent.  Carol made one mistake – the location.  Trump is disappointed that Tiffany didn't call Hugh Hefner.  Omarosa, surprisingly, says that Carol should go home. 

Trump fires Tiffany Fallon.  I think that was a terrible call.  Omarosa was the reason the ladies lost the challenge, plain and simple.
