The Amazing Race has, once again, failed to give America a winning all-female team.
Kelly and Christy were eliminated from
The Amazing Race last night, and with them the chances of two ladies winning one million dollars on a race around the world. Some viewers may mourn such a thing, but I think any real fan of
The Amazing Race will recognize that Kelly and Christy were not going to be the right female team to win this thing. They were no Dustin and Kandace, and were clearly not one of the best teams on the race, having gotten as far they did due to luck and the ineptitude of some of the other teams. So, there we have it – one more season without an all-female winner.
Moving on – how epic an upset would it be if
Andrew and Dan weren't the next team eliminated? Those top four teams have been the cream of the crop this season, no one else coming close. There are a couple of clear tiers right now: Andrew and Dan ride the caboose.
Terence and Sarah, with
Dallas and Toni, are the challengers who have shown signs of feistiness, yet have their flaws. Then, there are the only two teams who have actually won legs this season –
Nick and Starr and
Ken and Tina.
Nick and Starr have been the better team as of late, but you can't underestimate Ken and Tina. Overcoming a speed bump is no easy task and, by the looks of it, they ran as close to a flawless leg as one could hope for. They will battle it out with the siblings until the final moments of the race, if there is any justice in this world. Never have two teams dominated an entire season like this.
Terence and Sarah keep hanging around, whining and being weird. Earlier this season, I called out Sarah for taking Terence's Terence-ness without putting up a fight. I think it may be time to rescind that opinion. These two kind of deserve each other. Whatever makes you happy. Sarah is just as off-center. Neither are bad people by any stretch of the imagination, just a tad bit bizarre.
And, then we have Andrew and Dan. These guys keep getting breaks. If it wasn't for Ken and Tina, they may have spent the entire night trying to find the right numbers there in the street. What was so confusing about the “power line” mention in the clue? If there's one thing for prospective racers to remember when heading onto the race, it's that you have to pay extra-super-special-close attention to the clues. Every season, teams get screwed because they didn't read their clue correctly. It's not that difficult, guys.
(Oh, and kudos to
The Amazing Race producers for giving us that paint festival Road Block. As hellish as I'm sure it was for the racers, watching anyone get pelted with paint bullets by giddy Indians is high comedy.)
