Meet the Cast: CBS' Swingtown
Swingtown is an upcoming drama series on CBS, which follows the story of a married couple who, after relocating their family to a wealthy suburb in Chicago, find themselves in the middle of a lifestyle characterized by open marriages, women’s liberation and key parties.

Set in the 1970’s, the show aims to paint a picture of how the sexual and social revolutions greatly affected American suburban households. Swingtown is written by Mike Kelley and is under the direction of Alan Poul.

Jack Davenport will star as Bruce Miller, Sr., one of the new residents in the Chicago suburb. Davenport is an English actor who is most known for his role on the British sitcom, Coupling. He also played James Norrington in The Pirates of the Carribean trilogy and appeared in the films The Talented Mr. Ripley, Wedding Date and The Boy Who Would Be King.

Molly Parker, who became known for her role in the 1996 film Kissed, is set to portray Bruce’ wife, Susan Miller. Parker has worked extensively in the Canadian and American independent film industry, and has appeared in two HBO original series, namely Six Feet Under and Deadwood.

To play Bruce and Susan’s teenage daughter, Laurie, is actress Shanna Collins. Collins appeared in the first season of ABC Family’s Wildfire as Amber, the lead character’s best friend. Her other acting credits include War of the Worlds, Malcolm in the Middle, Veronica Mars and Close to Home.

Newcomer Aaron Howles will be portraying Bruce “B.J.” Miller, Bruce and Laurie’s pre-adolescent son.

Emmy nominee Grant Show is set to play Tom Decker, one of the Miller’s new and unconventional neighbors. Show received his Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Rick Hyde in the daytime series, Ryan’s Hope. He left the show in 1987, after which he started appearing in a number of primetime series, including Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place.

To portray Tom’s equally liberated wife, Trina, is Lana Parilla. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Parilla gained attention when she joined the cast of Spin City as Angie Ordonez. After one season, Parilla moved on to another television series, Boomtown, wherein she played paramedic Teresa Ortiz. Her other television credits include JAG, Six Feet Under and NYPD Blue.

Josh Hopkins and Miriam Shor will be playing Rick and Janet Thompson, The Miller’s close friends and former neighbors. Hopkins was made popular by his portrayal of Raymond Millbury in the legal dramedy, Ally McBeal, while Shor starred in ABC’s Big Day and appeared in such films as Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Shortbus.

Other cast members include Nick Benson, Kyle Searles and Brittany Robertson.

The series premiere of Swingtown is scheduled to air next year.
