Survivor: China - Mormons and Grave Diggers, Existing Harmoniously
Friday, October 26, 2007

My, how the tide has turned.  The Jaime/Peih-Gee challenge throwing scheme was quickly tossed under the rug, new alliances are forming both out of happenstance and necessity, and we witnessed the most disgusting food challenge in Survivor history.  Good episode.  The turn of fortunes for James over the past two weeks has been astonishing, from the grave digger being almost positive he'll be voted out, to being handed a hidden immunity idol and assured his safety.  Jaime, Peih-Gee and Erik look to be almost completely out of luck at this juncture, lacking the intestinal fortitude to follow through on their diabolical challenge-throwing plan, simply because Sherea wouldn't strategize during a challenge and Frosti appeared to avoid eye contact.

With last night's discovery of the hidden immunity idol and subsequent Todd-led deployment of Mission: James Throws Challenge, I couldn't have been happier as a viewer.  I was a vocal opponent of what Jaime and Peih-Gee did last week, which was class-less.  Although James didn't even succeed in throwing the challenge last night, the fact that he'd be safe either way was a refreshing turn of events after last week's nightmare.  I'll discuss hidden immunity idols in depth later in the season, but I'm generally opposed to them, unless they are outwardly used in a strategic manner, which Todd was advocating last night.

Over the last month, I've said some not-so-kind things about Sherea, and many a commenter has come to her defense.  Good luck defending her now.  Her performance at tribal council last night was abominable, vomit-inducing stuff.  I can't imagine someone having a worse attitude towards people on Survivor.  Her and Courtney both were despicable and, even if someone like Jean-Robert is annoying and arrogant, that doesn't give you license to verbally destroy someone on national TV.

Which brings me to the first ever Good Guy/Bad Guy Survivor: China Breakdown:

I don't anticipate much changing in the way of these designations, as they are completely based on personal preference.  Feel free to comment below on who you consider sympathetic and unsympathetic.

James Clement
