Lex van den Berghe Biography:
Born on June 18, 1963 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Lex van den Berghe is a punk rock band drummer from Santa Cruz, California. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Santa Clara University, and, due to his adventurous side, took on a job as a backcountry trip guide for various adventure travel businesses. His list of previous work experience includes being a carpenter, radio DJ, musician, motivational speaker and corporate marketing manager. When not with his wife, Kelly, and their two children, Corbin and River, van den Berghe can be seen either surfing at the beach or riding his motorcycle.
Heavily-tattooed and incredibly cunning, van den Berghe was one of the strongest competitors in Survivor: Africa. His hard work, careful planning and betrayal of certain alliances brought him all the way to the Final 3 with Ethan Zohn and Kim Johnson. He was voted out on Day 38 and finished in third place.
For the reality series’ special season, Survivor: All-Stars, van der Berghe was set to compete under the Mogo-Mogo tribe, but after the tribe switch, was transferred to the Chapera tribe. He was eliminated from the competition on Day 26, after his fellow tribe member, Rob Mariano, went against their understanding and joined the others in sending van den Berghe home.
