Jared Padalecki as
Sam Winchester Born on July 19, 1982 in San Antonio, Texas, Jared Tristan Padalecki is the middle child of three kids and is of Polish descent. When he was in high school, he was named a candidate for the 2000 Presidential Scholars Program. He also won FOX TV's Claim to Fame Contest in 1999, and appeared at the Teen Choice Awards, where he met his current manager. A year later, he moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue an acting career.
Padalecki was immediately cast for a supporting role on
Gilmore Girls , where he played Dean Forester for five years. He subsequently appeared in made-for-TV films such as
Silent Witness ,
Close to Home , A Ring of Endless Night and Young MacGyver. In 2005, he rose to further fame when he appeared alongside Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray and Paris Hilton in the horror film, House of Wax. In the same year, he landed the lead role in the WB series, Supernatural, where he plays Sam Winchester.
Gilmore Girl News correspondent Arieanna talked to Padalecki about his work on Gilmore Girls and Supernatural, and he said, "I definitely have more guys coming up to me talking about Supernatural than about Gilmore Girls. This is definitely more of a cult following. The fans of Supernatural are much more intense than the fans of Gilmore Girls. Fans of Supernatural can name how we killed each demon while the fans of Gilmore Girls enjoy a storyline."
In a conversation with People, Padalecki shared one of his experiences in working with Supernatural. He said, "We did an episode called Bugs, and we had to be in a room with 60,000 bees. They were trained to be non-aggressive, but you know if you piss off a bee it's going to sting you! I got stung and Jensen got stung. On the day (of the shoot), the bee wrangler says, 'Well, they're getting a little agitated.' I said, 'Agitated, you didn't say anything about being agitated!'"
