So You Think You Can Dance: Neil Haskell Enjoys Continued Success
Thursday, April 24, 2008

Since So You Think You Can Dance aired its finale in August of 2007, and Sabra Johnson was named the season 3 winner, fans haven’t heard a peep out of her. She taught at some dance workshops around the country, appeared on the cover of Movmnt Magazine, a dance publication, and entertained the idea of appearing High School Musical 3. She ultimately decided to turn down a role in the film and with no official website or MySpace page, it’s hard to know what she’s up to these days. Surprisingly (or not surprisingly, given his tremendous talent), it’s second runner up Neil Haskell who seems to be the most successful season 3 dancer. He will be appearing in an MTV movie and, this week, started his run in a very popular off-Broadway show.

Haskell has taken over the role of Luke in the off-Broadway show, Altar Boyz, which plays at New World Stages. The comedic musical follows a struggling Christian boy band as they try to make it big in New York City. The small cast, which is comprised of 5 male actors, sing and dance to entertaining songs such as “Church Rulez” and “The Miracle In Me”. Haskell replaces Jesse “JP” Johnson in the role and the musical also stars Michael Kadin Craig, Jay Garcia, Ryan J Ratliff and Ryan Strand. Altar Boyz debuted off-Broadway is 2005 and won an Outer Critics Circle Award.

Previously, Haskell appeared in the Broadway show The Times They Are A Changin', a musical based on the music of Bob Dylan and choreographed by Twyla Tharp. He has been seen on the soap opera, One Life To Live and regionally, appeared in the shows Beauty and the Beast, 42nd Street, Grease and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

As BuddyTV previously reported, Haskell will appear in the MTV movie, The American Mall. The film will air on the music network this August and is described by Haskell as, “Mallrats with dance”.
