So You Think You Can Dance: Top 16 Results Show, Live Thoughts (Page 1/2)

Last night the Top 16 took the stage and almost universally disappointed. As Nigel promised, weaknesses were certainly shown last night, and tonight two dancers will be sent home because of them. It's the first time America has had a chance to vote, so it should be interesting to see who ends up in the bottom tonight. Will it be based on popularity or performance? At least one of the couples who America didn't care for disappoints Nigel Lythgoe.

Watch along with me tonight as we learn who America loves and who America just likes. I'll be live thoughting the results show right here and in 140 characters or less on Twitter.

Cat is looking lovely and decidedly less lizard-y tonight, so at least something about tonight's show will be going right.

Group Routine: Hip Hop
Choreographed By: Dave Scott
Song: Warrior Pt.2 by Lloyd Banks

Seems to be an Aztec themed hip hop routine. Or at least I think that's what the gigantic Aztec pyramid on the distracting digital screen means, painted faces, and costumes are telling me. It's fascinating to see the first fully group routine of the season. Interestingly, the choreography and synchronicity seems to be better when the group is dancing as a whole than when they are separated into duos. And is it sad that I think it was the best routine of the season so far? It was theatrical and over the top but not stiffling of the dancers. Plus, it featured Russell and Ellenore and showed of their particular skills and star quality, so I'm pretty pleased with that. Yep, I'm confident in saying, best routine thus far.

First three couples are up. Let's see who is safe and who is dancing for their lives.

Ellenore & Ryan - DANCING FOR THEIR LIVES

Not a huge surprise based on their performance, but a big one based on their popularity. No doubt Ellenore can kill her solo, but will Ryan fall to the ballroom curse? To allay this possibility we recommend that he does it shirtless.

Channing & Victor -  SAFE

Kind a surprise, but considering they had one of the few glimmers of greatness (heck, let's be honest, goodness) last night it is at least deserved.

Kathryn & Legacy -  SAFE

No need to fake us out Cat Deeley, we know there's no way Legacy is getting voted off right now. He's won over pre-season haters like me, as well as having a solid fan base to begin with. Plus, like the Beatles sang, "he's getting better all the time."

Ah we have our first KMart sponsored segment, happily it involves Dominic Sandoval from Season 3. Dom is quizzing high school students on dance moves. If they'd been reading Dr. Goddess, they'd have known more of them. Happily, Dominic is funnier than his hair, which is saying something indeed. Plus, high schoolers write their own comedy unintentionally. Save the heavy handed KMart shout outs, I'll look forward to what is hopefully a regular feature.

Time to learn the fate of some more couples.

Ashleigh & Jakob -  SAFE

If there is any justice in the world or if America has eyes and they are focusing on Jakob Karr, these two should be safe. There is justice in the world and America has eyes, these two are safe.

Pauline & Peter - DANCING FOR THEIR LIVES

I would have thought the performance had a chance to save them, but the fact they're standing next to Russell and Noelle means there is no chance of them being safe. And perhaps, of either dancer staying tonight. I hate to say it, but tonight is most likely the end of the road for Peter and Pauline.

Russell & Noelle -  SAFE

Of course these two are safe, thanks Captain Obvious. Russell and Noelle delivered the only great routine of the evening and Russell is the clear star of season 6. Noelle (who danced beautifully last night) will be riding those dreadlocks right into the Top 10.

Let's see who joins Peter & Pauline and Ryan & Ellenore in the bottom six,
