Michael Rosenbaum, the antagonist Lex Luthor on the popular series Smallville aspires to stride behind the camera to direct an episode of the action-adventure drama series.

Rosenbaum, a 34-year old American actor, came from Oceanside, New York. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in theater arts. Previously, he was included in films like Cursed, Sorority Boys, Bringing Down the House, Poolhall Junkies, Special, Kicking It Old Skool, and Sweet November to name a few. In addition he also worked on shows like Teen Titans, The Zeta Project, Batman and Beyond, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

This budge served as a prelude and groundwork for his pursuit of directing comedies in the future. His direction debut came in the form of a new episode of the young-Superman series, Smallville, last Thursday, February 15. The episode is called “Freak,” which centered on a young man and his ability to detect people affected by Kryptonite meteors, having been blinded in a meteor shower that hit Smallville.

The proud villain is ecstatic with the outcome of his new venture. Rosenbaum said, "Truth be said, it's a good episode…I'm so happy. I'm proud. I had a lot of great people working with me. I said, 'If I can't direct these actors, I'll never direct again.' I was pleasantly surprised."

Rosenbaum isn’t the only Smallville actor who took a shot at directing. Previously, fellow cast member Tom Welling who plays Clark on the series, also made his directional debut on the hit series in 2006, with an episode called “Fragile” in season five, and “Hydro” in season six. Welling, having prior directional experience than Rosenbaum, gave some pointers on how to go about Rosenbaum’s directional project. "You have 10 days to shoot a movie," Rosenbaum says. "It's intense. Welling told me, 'Listen, man, eat as much as you can, because I lost five pounds due to stress.' I'm like, 'I'm skinny. I can't lose five pounds, Welling.' Sure enough, I lost five or six pounds. It was the stress.”

Moreover, Rosenbaum tells about his delight and positive sentiments while directing the show. He said, "It's funny, because when you're a director, everybody comes at you, with, 'This shirt or that shirt?' 'This shirt.' 'This prop or that prop?' That prop.' I love making decisions. I made very quick decisions. I've never been that decisive in my life…This was the biggest challenge yet from 'Smallville.' It was the biggest challenge I've probably ever had in my career. How often do you get a chance to have three-and-a-half million dollars handed to you to direct a show, and be in charge, and get that kind of.”
