After last nights ‘Trespass’, has
Smallville fallen back into character oriented damsel in distress cliché, or will there be more super hero centric pieces to come?
Not that we don’t love it when Clark keeps his super side in check, but after
Smallville wowed us with Justice, is there any chance more men in tights (and plaid) action is looming on the
Smallville horizon?
Read on to learn what our investigation turned up.
We told you last week about the upcoming 'Freak' which concerns a blind special with the ability to ‘see’ other meteor affected beings. Some might consider that this episode is going to set up some future super-hero happenings by identifying someone as a meteor freak. No word on that speculation from any of the reliable Smallville spoiler sources, but we can hope.
The real action, however, is coming in march/april with the episode “Combat”. In that episode, Lois finds herself in a tough spot when she investigates fights being staged between the Phantom Zoners and inmates at their prison. The Smallville spinoff Lanaville continues when Lana runs into some trouble aboard Lex’s jet involving the baby and they are forced to land in China. Then, thank god, we get an update on the Justice League. I’m not sure if they will be appearing in an action packed capacity, but word is they have kept themselves busy having eliminated 8 of the 12 33.1 facilities. (Source for all of this – Kryptonsite)
So there is definitely hope that the season will end strong with lots of Smallville super hero inspired action. Unlike other seasons, I’ve felt the dramatic elements this season were a little over-writer, perhaps to the level of afternoon soaps. It’s forgivable, of course, for all the high points because if any season of Smallville has really nailed the tenuous forays into super hero plots it has been this one.
Smallville, Season 6 Episode 15 'Freak' airs Thursday, Feb 15th, 2007.
