Brian Austin Green has taken the jump from one sci-fi series to another--and, well, has bypassed a drama along the way. TVGuide.com now reports that he has signed on for the upcoming season of
Smallville, appearing as a villain, Metallo.
The character, which was first introduced in the comic books in 1959, moonlights as
Daily Planet journalist John Corben. Otherwise, he's the metal-clad kryptonite-powered villain who will make Superman--and to that effect, Clark Kent's--life a little more complicated.
Reports say Green, who last starred in the recently-cancelled
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, will appear in at least two episodes of the upcoming season of Smallville, which begins on September 25.
Green was last reported considering a role for the next season of another CW series,
One Tree Hill, but backed out of negotiations; his role was later taken over by
Lipstick Jungle's Robert Buckley. Previous to that, he was attached to a pilot for the network,
Body Politic, but it wasn't picked up during the upfronts.
