When I think of The Mentalist's Simon Baker, one of the first words that come to mind is "yum." So I guess it's no surprise to find out that the people at Givenchy have decided to make him their spokesperson for a new scent. I'm sure it will be just as delicious as he is and I'm almost sorry that it's not a women's fragrance as that means I can't wear it. Then again, I bet a lot of people are going to be happy if their boyfriends or husbands come home with it on.

Women's Wear Daily broke the news that Baker's face will soon be synonymous with a men's fragrance from Givenchy. The Australian actor will appear in both TV and print ads for the new scent, which is expected to launch globally in the spring of 2013.

Thierry Maman, global president of Givenchy said, "Simon was a natural choice for us - he has aristocratic elegance and charisma. These are all values which have been linked with the brand since Hubert de Givenchy."

Baker is far from the first star to get involved with a fragrance campaign. Recently mega star Brad Pitt appeared in a campaign for Chanel No. 5. The commercial doesn't make a whole lot of sense and it's not like there's any action in it, but with someone like Pitt in a commercial, you don't really need all that stuff. Just having Pitt talking on screen is more than enough to get a few hearts racing and all I can say is that if Baker somehow ends up doing similar ads, I will be one very happy fan.

In addition to starring in the hit CBS series The Mentalist, Baker has also appeared in The Devil Wears Prada, The Killer Inside Me and Margin Call. Next up for the actor is a romantic comedy called I Give It A Year, directed by Dan Mazer and due out in 2013.

What do you think of the news that The Mentalist's own Simon Baker will be the spokesman for the new Givenchy scent? Do you think that will make you more likely or less likely to run out and buy it next year?
