Emilia Fox was born on July 31, 1974 in London, England to Edward Fox and Joanna David. She attended both Bryanston School and Oxford University. She speaks French and German, plays the cello and the piano and is also an expert kickboxer. She met her husband, Jared Harris, son of legendary actor, the late Richard Harris, in 2003, when they starred together in a failed West-end production. They wed two years later in July 2005. Fox took over the lead as pathologist Nikki Alexander in the BBC series Silent Witness after Amanda Burton left the show. Fox also appeared as the second Mrs. de Winter in the 1997 television production of Rebecca, a role her mother had played back in 1978. In 1995, mother and daughter were together in the miniseries Pride and Prejudice.

Nikki Alexander, played by Emilia Fox on Silent Witness, is an attractive, bright, young pathologist. She is a relative novice at working in a mortuary but her enthusiasm and drive make her a valuable member of the team tasked with uncovering the truth behind gruesome murders.
