Scrubs season 7 was one of the many victims of the WGA writers' strike. Thanks to the strike,
Scrubs only produced eleven episodes for season 7. There was also some question of whether NBC would even air the final episodes, and whether
Scrubs would get a proper sign-off in what most believed to be the final season of Scrubs. Thankfully, ABC came to the rescue and picked up
Scrubs for a final eighth season, which will air on ABC sometime in mid-season.
Scrubs season 7, then, was shorter than expected, but it still brought the funny. The
Scrubs Season 7 DVD was released today, but we were able to take a look at it prior to its release.
Because of the strike, the
Scrubs season 7 DVD is only two discs, containing eleven episodes in total. I think I speak for most fans when I say that season 7 wasn't
Scrubs best season, but it remained worthwhile TV. The DVD was released today, Tuesday, November 11. You can pick it up for a scant twenty dollars over at Amazon.
DVD Contents:
Disc One:
Episode 1 – My Own Worst Enemy
Episode 2 – My Hard Labor
Episode 3 – My Inconvenient Truth
Episode 4 – My Identity Crisis
Episode 5 – My Growing Pains
Episode 6 – My Number One Doctor
Episode 7 – My Bad Too
Disc Two:
Episode 8 – My Manhood
Episode 9 – My Dumb Luck
Episode 10 – My Waste of Time
Episode 11 – My Princess
The bonus features on the second disc include Deleted Scenes, a Blooper Reel, a smattering of Alternate Lines, an interview with
Ken Jenkins (Dr. Bob Kelso), and The Making of My Princess.
The bonus features are pretty standard. The Making of My Princess is the most in-depth feature, clocking in at around twenty minutes, and it gives a real in-depth look at the making of one of
Scrubs most ambitious episodes, a fantasy take on
Princess Bride. Every episode on both discs has an audio commentary, though the cast is largely absent.
Zach Braff does one audio commentary on his own for My Growing Pains, an episode that he directed. The other commentaries mostly feature behind-the-scenes members of the production crew.
For
Scrubs fans, there's no reason not to pick up the season 7 DVD. It's cheap, and has all the features you could ask for on such an abbreviated season.
