After its creator Bill Lawrence promised of a great 8th season for
Scrubs on its new home on ABC, Disney will be coming out with a two-disc DVD for the Emmy-award winning medical comedy's 7th season.
Other than all of season 7's 11 episodes, the set will also include a behind-the-scenes featurette of the
Zach Braff-helmed finale called “My Princess,” plus the customary episode commentaries, cast interviews, bloopers, deleted scenes, and the Easter egg “Just A Other Typical Day In the
Scrubs Elevator.”
The show will resume mid-season on ABC.
“Scrubs: The Complete Seventh Season” will come out on November 11 for $30.
"I don't know if you know this," Bill Lawrence said, "but you can't kill this show. It's going to go on forever.
"You mark my words: This is the year Scrubs is a huge hit. Year eight."
Lawrence said he is bringing in some new and fresh faces for the new season, such as comedian Aziz Ansari from MTV's
Human Giant and
Flight of the Conchords' Eliza Coupe to respond to the need for “change” in the long-running sitcom.
Previously, it was reported that
Friends alumna Courtney Cox will be joining
Scrubs for a three-episode arc, where she will play as Sacred Heart's new Chief of Medicine. Then before that, veteran actor Michael J. Fox also confirmed his tenure at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the move from NBC and ABC has reportedly been received warmly by the
Scrubs cast, who is said to be slightly frustrated with the way the network “mishandled” the long-running series. Cases in point include little promotion and frequent changes on its timeslot that supposedly caught many
Scrubs fans flatfooted.
Premiering in 2001,
Scrubs focuses on the lives of several people working at Sacred Heart. It stars Zach Braff,
Sarah Chalke,
Donald Faison, and
Neil Flynn, among others.
