Things may get a bit scandalous this weekend when Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope on the hit ABC drama Scandal, takes time out from playing a crisis manager in DC to hop on over to NBC to host Saturday Night Live.
The musical guest will be rapper Eminem.
NBC has released a series of promos featuring Washington and cast member Taran Killam. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come for her hosting stint because it's actually Killam who's the star of the promos in the below video.
Washington pretty much just stands there and reads her lines, leaving her partner to pull off all the silly antics, including calling the actress beautiful and expecting a compliment in return, doing an Eminem impression and feeling the effects of having eaten a spicy pepper.
She does have a couple good moments, though, like when the two of them say "Ooh, scandal!" and telling him to "Buck up!"
This will be Kerry Washington's first time hosting SNL. And it'll be interesting to see if the sketch comedy show addresses the recent controversy: they're being criticized for a lack of diversity; maybe cast member Kenan Thompson will be involved since he trashed his own show for not having any black women as cast members.
And since she's on one of the most buzzed-about shows on television, it seems a given that Washington will do at least one sketch about Scandal
. But it's unclear if she'll address today's report by Us Weekly
that she's pregnant with her first child, with a source saying, "She's about four months along."
Are you looking forward to Kerry Washington hosting SNL? Do you think she'll be given better material than she has in the promos?
