'Saving Grace' Embraces Online Campaign

Fandom interaction is a dish best served online, as Saving Grace execs have shown.  The dramatic second season of the series recently premiered, and that's not the only surprise for viewers.  To facilitate the fans' interest on the show, TNT has launched the Embrace Your Grace website.

Embrace Your Grace features some of the people behind the show, like the series creator Nancy Miller.  The site greets visitors with her words, “Like all of us, Grace is on a journey. She's got one boot firmly planted in love for country, state, family and friends, and the other boot on ice so slippery the falls can't be anything but hard and painful.”

Contributions from the cast, crew and fans will appear, along with a message board that proves just how interactive Saving Grace audiences can get.  Other than the inspirational and influential voices on the site, there are also regular competitions.  Visitors and members could just be blessed enough to win t-shirts or a classic 1982 Porsche 911 Carrera SC Coupe.

Users of Embrace Your Grace can access forums and write on blogs about how they can be passionate, fearless and inquisitive individuals.  The network is really pitching the show to an even wider audience, tapping into the infamous bad side of all women.

The beige and blue homepage doesn't seem fit to that attitude though.  Most of the articles reek of rainbows and butterflies, not really similar to the tough persona Grace Hanadarko (Holly Hunter) exudes.  Some of what's written there doesn't even feel like anything Grace would say.  Other people's personal lives seem really didactic and lined with morals, as compared to the show's fictional female.  Despite the educational creeds that the site promotes, there's one thing that could be the website's own saving grace: giving people the chance to win a sleek, new car.

Saving Grace's fourth episode for this season will air tonight at 10pm, and is titled “It's a Fierce, White-Hot, Mighty Love.”  The episode will involve Clay confronting Ham about his relationship with Grace, as well as the case of a mother going missing.  She probably headed to the Embrace Your Grace website for the 911 Porsche.
