No, Lil Wayne is not dead.  Contrary to reports that he was shot and found dead, the 26-year-old rapper is alive and well.  Word on the street was that Lil’ Wayne, who is also known as Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. in real life, was killed from a gun shot over the weekend in a gang feud.

Wayne, who opened the 34th season of Saturday Night Live with Olympic golden boy Michael Phelps, has a history with guns.  In fact, when he was 12 years old, he accidentally shot himself in the chest with a .44 caliber.

According to rumors, Lil Wayne was the latest victim of the notorious feud between the “Blood” and “Crips.”  Following his performance at the New Orleans Arena, the infamous rapper reportedly got caught in an altercation with members of rival gang the “Crips” and was consequently shot six times with a hand gun.  Paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the rapper, however were unable to prevent massive blood loss.  He was pronounced dead at 2:36am on November 1s, shortly after arriving at Tulane University Hospital.

On the other hand, Perez Hilton says Lil Wayne was not shot and killed, cautioning people “not to believe everything that you read.  The report is one of many in a long line of replicas made to look like, in this case, BBC News."

Rumors that Lil Wayne was shot and killed come on the heels of yet another nasty rumor that comedian Katt Williams, who is credited for The Boondocks and The Tracy Morgan Show, died in plane crash this weekend.  Of course, this is also not true.

Prior to appearing on this season’s Saturday Night Live opener, Lil Wayne appeared on Saturday Night Live in 2004 in an episode that saw acclaimed actor Robert De Niro with musical guest Destiny's Child.  His other TV credits include The Boondocks, Jimmi Kimmel Live!, and The Roaches, just to name a few.
