Angela Simmons and
Vanessa Simmons started 2008 in full force as the
Run's House entrepreneurs rolled out the launch of the clothing line to go along with their already-successful shoe collection.
The girls have developed a fan base through
Run's House, and they've used their shoe business as a way to connect with that audience. They've run a photo contest in the past, wherein fans of the show and the shoes could send in a photo of themselves in their Pastry shoes.
Now, the girls are reaching back to their roots as the daughters of rapper
Rev. Run, and are asking their fans to pen a poem for Pastry.
Their website says, “Pastry is looking for some young poets to show us their skills. You young wordsmiths out there need to come up with a poem about Pastry. We will pick the top 10 poems, and then you guys will get the chance to vote on the winner. The winner gets a free pair of Pastry's! Show us what you got…!”
Their fans have already been inspired by their shoes. One fan named Lil Shani wrote an entire song about her Pastry shoes, incorporating into her rap the names of the different styles within the collection.
Meanwhile, the
Run's House girls will be starting to make appearances around the country, starting at the Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix on January 31, from 6-8pm, and they said to their fans, “We hope to see a lot of you guys there, and can't wait to meet more of you! We will be there introducing the new Spring ‘08 Collection! Check it!”
The girls have unveiled a revamped, in-depth website to go with their new clothing and handbag collections. It would appear the pair's interest in fashion is no flash in the pan and that they are looking to make it in the long run like their other mogul family members.
