Following FOX's lead in picking up three new dramas earlier this week, NBC is preparing for the 2014-2015 TV season with pick-ups for three new dramas and a comedy.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

On the drama side, one of the big shows is State of Affairs starring Grey's Anatomy's Katherine Heigl and 16-time Emmy nominee (and four-time winner) Alfre Woodard. Keigl plays a CIA officer who gets chosen to deliver the daily briefings to the president (played by Woodard).

Odyssey, another drama, is a complex series in which a female soldier, a corporate lawyer and a political activist find themselves involved in an international military conspiracy. It stars Pushing Daisies' Anna Friel and Everwood's Treat Williams.

NBC's third new drama is Allegiance, based on an Israeli series. The show centers on a CIA analyst and war hero who is unaware of the fact that his parents and sister are secretly part of a Russian sleeper cell that gets reactivated. It stars Scott Cohen and Hope Davis.

The first new comedy pick-up for NBC's new season is Marry Me starring Happy Endings' Casey Wilson and Ken Marino (Party Down, Veronica Mars). It's about a long-time couple who get engaged.

Given the popularity of Scandal and NBC's success with The Blacklist, it's no surprise that political thrillers are taking center stage. Another popular trend for this season appears to be African-American leads, with Alfre Woodard joining a quartet of fellow African-American Oscar nominees on FOX's new shows.

NBC's official upfront presentation is on Monday, May 12, when all of its new shows and renewals will be revealed.
