'Pushing Daisies' Hits the Paley Festival

The week-long Paley Festival in Los Angeles has long been hallowed ground for television fans.  Over the years, the casts and creative minds behind the most popular and beloved series on TV have been welcomed at the Paley Fest to talk about their show, screen episodes, and interact with the fans.  2008's Paley Fest kicked into high gear on Saturday, when the cast of Pushing Daisies, along with creator/mastermind Bryan Fuller, showed up to entertain the masses.  Unfortunately, we at BuddyTV were not in attendance, but thanks to TV Guide, we learned what went down on Saturday night in the Cinerama Dome.

On hand for the festivities were creator Bryan Fuller, producers Peter Ocko, Dan Jinks, Bruce Cohen and cast members Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Kristin Chenoweth, Chi McBride, and Ellen Greene.

One of the main things I was really happy to hear about were Bryan Fuller's comments regarding the strike.  All in all, he commented that the writers' strike might have been a good thing for Pushing Daisies.  He said it gave he and the creative team time to look back on those first nine episodes, see what worked and what didn't, then plan for season 2 from there.  Side note: in case you didn't know, Pushing Daisies won't be airing any new episodes until next Fall.  Unfortunately, but at least we'll get a full second season in 2008-2009.

In season 2, Fuller said that one of the main plot arcs will be Chuck learning who her real mother is.  It will cause some complications between Ned and Chuck.

Ned is a vegetarian – once meat touches him it comes back to life.  Gross.

According to Fuller, Ned would not be able to get Chuck pregnant.

The Pushing Daisies Season 1 DVD will be (as the kids like to say) dropping in early September, along with (possibly) a soundtrack.

Chenoweth turned down a lead role in the Mel Brooks Broadway musical “Young Frankenstein” to take her role on Pushing Daisies

And that's about it.  Can't wait for season 2.

Who is your favorite Pushing Daisies character?
Ned
Chuck
Emerson
Olive
