Ellen Greene was born on February 22, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York. Her acting career started off as performing in the cabaret in New York City's Reno Sweeney's. She is most famous for her role in Little Shop of Horrors, a stage production where she performed for two years. She then moved to the film version of the production of the same title. In 1977 she was nominated for a Tony Award as Best Actress for the revival of The Threepenny Opera. Her television appearances include those in Suddenly Susan, The X-Files, Crossing Jordan, Heroes and Pushing Daisies.

Vivian is played by Ellen Greene on Pushing Daisies, the new ABC television series. Vivian and Lily are Chuck's aunts who took her in after her father suddenly passed away. A former synchronized swimmer, Vivian is afraid of leaving the house, and enjoys fine cheese.
