It's time to dust off your trucker hat. Vulture is reporting that teen heartthrob Justin Bieber is getting a new gig. MTV is courting the moppet to host a revival of their onetime hit show, Punk'd. Tweens everywhere rejoice!

The pop sensation will be taking his boyish charm with him as he tries to pull off major pranks on celebrities. A few years have passed since Punk'd was on the air, and heaven knows we have celebrities who are in need of a reality check from The Biebs. Those Glee and Twilight kids could use a good punking.

I know this is where I am supposed to say that this is a lame idea and that Justin Bieber represents everything that is wrong with popular culture and the quest for instant celebrity ... but I can't. From the very little I've seen of him ... I kind of like the guy. I wouldn't be able to sing you one of his songs (OK perhaps I know the chorus to "Baby" but that's only two words long) and I could care less about his haircut, but I don't think having him host Punk'd 2.0 is a terrible idea. Between his hot for teacher SNL sketch with Tina Fey, his tongue-in-cheek videos on Funny or Die, and his genuinely charming talk show appearances, the guy has the chops -- to pull pranks on Demi Lovato or whoever.

There was a time when Punk'd was a must-watch for fans of pop culture. Remember Justin Timberlake crying when he thought his house was getting repossessed? Ha! The show started off punking major celebrities; it became addictive to see how your favorite celebrity would react under pressure. When the prank was over, Ashton Kutcher would run out in his silly trucker hat and all was forgiven. As time went on, Kutcher left the show and the celebrities getting punk'd were pretty D-list. Well, the show was has been off the air for three years, I guess now is as good a time as any to bring the art of punking back to MTV. And for now, Justin Bieber will be the man (boy) to do it.

What do y'all think; am I crazy in thinking this is cool? Bieber surely has the following so ratings wont be an issue, but do you think he's up for it? Is the Bieber-bump just what Punk'd needs to be back on top? Sound off below!
