After coming up with reality television shows like
Beauty and the Geek,
Punk’d and
The Real Wedding Crashers, actor-producer Ashton Kutcher has finally inked a deal with CBS Paramount Network TV.
Now, CBS will have the first option on all alternative and reality projects conceptualized and produced by
Punk'd Creator.
Kutcher, who came to fame by playing Michael Kelso on the comedy series
That ‘70s Show, is an actor who has worked in films like
Dude, Where’s My Car,
My Boss’s Daughter,
A Lot Like Love,
Cheaper by the Dozen, The Butterfly Effect and
The Guardian among others. Apart from producing TV shows, he has made guest appearances on shows such as
Robot Chicken, Grounded for Life, Just Shoot Me, and
You’ve Got A Friend.
Actor Jason Goldberg and Kutcher’s Katalyst Films have reportedly signed a two-year contract with CBS, making its first venture into the syndication business with an exclusive development. Given this, CBS will be home to all of Katalyst’s upcoming scripted development. In addition, CBS will also have first dib at any reality projects from Katalyst.
Previously, Katalyst was under contract with 20th Century Fox TV, where the company developed The CW’s
Beauty and the Geek and ABC’s new sitcom
Miss Guided, which stars Judy Greer.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that Kutcher will be starring in the comedy film
What Happens in Vegas, alongside Cameron Diaz. Kutcher and business partner Goldberg has also completed producing a new show called
Game Show in My Head, which sends contestants out on the streets, armed with a tiny earpiece. In an attempt to win $150,000, contestants will be put through various tasks to complete with unsuspecting bystanders while all the action is captured on a hidden camera.
