John Abruzzi is a former Chicago mob boss what was serving a life sentence for two counts of murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder at Fox River Penitentiary. Abruzzi was head of Prison Industries and enjoyed benefits from his mobster status as his men paid off C.O. Bellick. Obsessed with revenging the man who turned him in, Otto Fibonacci, Abruzzi joined forces with Michael Scofield, who knew where Fibonacci was. After the Fox River 8 broke out of prison, Abruzzi headed home, where he was about to leave on a cargo ship to Sardinia. Trying to forget about Fibonacci, Abruzzi was given information about his whereabouts, and ignoring his wife's pleas, went to track him down.
