Whether or not Michael and his group of loyal followers make it out of the current predicament alive is one thing. How they'll function for the rest of their lives if they do is quite another. On
Prison Break, Michael, Lincoln, Sucre, Sara, and Mahone have learned one major lesson over the last few seasons: you can't trust anyone. You can't trust your local law enforcements, you can't trust the government, you can't even trust the President. You can't trust hospital personnel or just the average person walking down the street. Anybody could have it out for you at any time. On last night's episode, Michael learned the hard way that he really is alone in the world right now.
This season, Michael first trusted Homeland Security agent Don Self, who ended up stealing Scylla, faking his death, killing another agent, and blaming it all on him. He also had no choice but to trust Gretchen, a former agent with The Company, who has done nothing but wreak havoc and put everyone around her in grave danger. He trusted the Department of Homeland Security last night but The Company had their own agent embedded within the division. That agent killed Don's superior, Herb Stanton, and was about to drag Michael and Lincoln off to The General before they were saved by Sucre.
The thing is that Michael is right: no one can go on the run now. They can't spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders and being thrown into maximum security prisons. I mean, even Michael must know at this point that they are only so many prisons he can break out of. No, they need to stay and fight. Fight against The Company, against Don, and against anybody else who tries to take them out. The episodes this season keep getting better and better, with the stakes being raised higher each week where no one is safe. How Michael is going to get himself out of this one is beyond me but if I have faith in anyone to pull off the impossible, it's him.
Should Michael take everyone and go on the run?
