Prison Break's going to return in April, which for most of us is definitely a long time, considering the show is down to its last six episodes. I'm sure they're getting down to shooting those episodes, and pretty soon we'll hear news about their last day of production and all the off-camera drama that it entails. But that's now that I'm here for . What we have are possible spoilers. Yep, this early.
Well, the spoilers are more about that rumored
Prison Break spin-off. It's been a long time since it was announced—when producers were planning to do a spin-off set in a women's prison. The plan was to introduce the new show within an episode of
Prison Break itself—pretty much like, err,
Private Practice was to
Grey's Anatomy. We haven't heard about this in months, and it felt that the plans have been abandoned entirely, but right now it seems it's really going to get, err, going.
And yes, here goes the warning: spoilers ahead, not just for the spin-off series, but for one of the last episodes itself!
The folks at SpoilerTV got their hands on a casting call for episode 23 of the latest season, and it outlines some characters that could appear on the spin-off series. Inevitably these character details would lead to some details about the series itself, so if you're ready, well, here are some of the characters that could appear in the spin-off:
- Daddy is around 35-45 years old and is a veteran inmate at Miami-Dade Women's Prison. Tough and powerful, she acts as a “parent” and “husband” to some female prisoners, and offers protection to new inmates.
- Warden Alice Simms is the warden for Miami-Dade. V ery insecure, she has higher aspirations, but fears embarrassment when a high-profile prisoner escapes under her watch.
- Cowler is a hard-hearted female prison guard who isn't swayed by the life-threatening condition of a new inmate. (This new inmate could be any female character from Prison Break; they're not telling.) Within the episode, she later gives way to Gretchen's charms. (Could the new inmate be Gretchen? No idea.)
- Tracy is another female prison guard who appears, at first, to be sympathetic to the new inmate, but is eventually revealed to be a “brutal enemy with a grudge”.
- Jenny is a younger inmate, who is pretty and tough but tends to be submissive. She is one of Daddy's “kids” and tends to cower when reprimanded.
- Skittlez is another female inmate in her 30s, who is mentally unstable, overweight and very intimidating. Although she won't have any lines during the Prison Break episode, she will be attracted to the new inmate.
Now, here's the thing. The producers are looking for more characters in that casting call—it's for a
Prison Break episode, after all—and those other characters provide very interesting details as to what we should expect in the last six episodes. They are looking for a doctor who will explain to the new inmate how the birth of her baby will go. They are also looking for a pastor—no details there—and a detective who will serve an arrest warrant to one-half of a newlywed couple. Now, maybe I'm just putting too much into these details, but we can't discount the possibility that there will be a marriage in upcoming episodes. And a pregnancy. And, perhaps most importantly, a female character getting imprisoned—she probably also gets married and pregnant. By the way, producers are also looking for a male who can play a lawyer who negotiates visitation rights for the new inmate's spouse. Hrmmm.
But that's enough details for now. I'm not sure if I explained things properly, but I'm sure we'll all see these clear up when
Prison Break returns to Fox on April 17.
