In three seasons of
Prison Break, Michael Scofield has successfully broken out of two prisons in two countries. He has gotten almost everyone he loves and cares about killed except for his brother and his nephew. He's been on the run, he's made a few friends but more enemies, and somehow, managed to really piss off some secret government organization. What they want with him still remains unclear and season 3 ended with several storylines up in the air. Though I must admit that I want many of these questions answered, I pose one of my own: Does
Prison Break really need another season?
I get that die hard fans don't even want to entertain that question. I, myself, am a fan of the show but I feel the need to play devil's advocate and address some issues. When I heard that Michael had to break out of a second prison, I was less than thrilled. How many times can a guy break out of prison? I'm telling you right now that if he ends up in any jail anywhere for a third time, I'm throwing in the towel. Once, I bought it. Twice, I reluctantly gave in. Three times is a deal breaker for me.
There's also talk of the
Prison Break spinoff, set in a women's jail. So not only do I have to buy that a fairly average human being can break out of two prisons but now a woman needs to make her way out, too? Is this some national epidemic, people breaking out of prison? Am I supposed to now buy that two people who have successfully or are planning on breaking out prison know each other?
In the fourth season of
Prison Break, the characters will be split up all over the place? Michael is after Susan and The Company, Mahone is part of The Company, Lincoln and LJ are off to catch up with each other while T-Bag, Bellick, and Sucre are stuck in Sona. Can the show really devote enough time to each character to make it work? Will we feel like storylines are being resolved and that the show isn't posing more questions than providing answers?
The writers of the show will have a big task on their hands, to convince viewers that they have enough material to go the distance. What do you think? How much longer do you see Prison Break going on for?
