When we last visited Once Upon a Time, Rumple was reunited with his son Bae, who it turned out to be Emma's former boyfriend and Henry's father, Neal in New York. And, back in Storybrooke, Cora and Regina searched for Rumple's dagger, so they could control him. In "The Queen is Dead," those stories continue, while Snow celebrates her birthday.

Official episode synopsis:
Upon discovering Cora and Regina's plan to find and take possession of Rumplestiltskin's dagger, Mary Margaret, with the aid of David and Mother Superior, makes it her mission to find it first; and while Mr. Gold continues his quest in New York to reunite with son Bae, Hook devises a plan to rid himself of a crocodile. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, the Blue Fairy offers Snow White an unconventional enchantment that could help save her dying mother, Queen Eva.
The promo for "The Queen is Dead" is quite telling about what's to come, but is anything as it seems on Once Upon a Time?
Will Regina and Cora finally get rid of Snow? Maybe, but my guess would be no. Though, Rumple does get the hook!
In Fairy Tale Land That Was, Snow gets schooled by her mother (Rena Sofer, NCIS) that being royal doesn't make her better than others. Her mother was responsible for teaching her benevolence towards others.
In Storybrooke, it's Snow's birthday, but she doesn't want to celebrate. She receives a special gift outside her door from Johanna (Lesley Nicol, Downton Abbey).
In New York, Henry and Neal bond over pizza, while Rumple tries to get Emma to convince Neal to return to Storybrooke with them. Does Emma want another chance with Neal?
Snow and Johanna are reunited in Storybrooke and share a moment in memory of Snow's mother. When Snow hears something in the woods, she goes to check it out and finds Regina and Cora searching for Rumple's dagger. Did Hook lie to them about the location?
"I'll use that dagger to force the Dark One to kill anyone you like." -- Cora to Regina
Will the attack on Rumple be what finally brings a father and son together again? And, will Cora and Regina wreak havoc on their enemies?
