'Once Upon a Time' Recap: King Midas Ruins Everything
Tonight on Once Upon a Time, David must make a decision. Should he follow his heart and pick Mary Margaret? Or perhaps he should go with what he knows and pick Kathryn? The true story behind the making of Prince Charming is revealed, as well.

Kathryn brings her husband David home to a house full of party guests, with Emma and Henry in attendance. David is still on a mission to help everyone remember who they are. Tonight's target is apparently Prince Charming. After seeing that Mary Margaret failed to show up, David goes looking for her. She's hanging bird houses; how convenient.

A short-lived conversation about David's feelings turns into Prince Charming "killing the unkillable," a really large man. His next opponent will be a dragon that, thanks to King Midas, will be slain with a golden sword. The giant thought to be "unkillable" really is just that. He stabs James through the back with a rather unruly weapon.

Prince James lies lifeless in front of his father, King George, when "help" comes in the form of Rumpelstiltskin. I really don't like this guy. Apparently, he and the King made a deal. Now another shall be made for James' life in return for a magic wand he wants. In a very strange and unwarranted twist, Rumpelstiltskin says that this prince may be lost forever, yet there is still his twin brother. Confused much?

While David is still having trouble finding the love for his wife, we meet the twin brother, a shepherd who wishes to marry for love. Rumpelstiltskin comes to ... collect him in order to slay the dragon. I suppose the writers have tossed in the story of The Prince and the Pauper. He must play the part of his dead twin brother, a prince.

Mayor Regina swoops in to stir up everyone's business once more. Mary Margaret is enjoying a newspaper in the diner when she sits down to inform her that David has left her "friend" Kathryn. Regina warns her to allow him to remember before she makes a wrong move.

Back to the matter at hand, Fake Prince James is now with the soldiers, climbing up to the dragon's lair. He is told to wait outside while the others do all the hard work. Seeing the fire escape from the darkness, it's pretty obvious who is winning the battle so far. The heroic music kicks in as Fake James picks up the golden sword and chops the beast's head off.

David pops in on Mary Margaret in her classroom. He tells her to meet him tonight on the bridge. If she doesn't show, then he'll leave her be. This show is created upon drama. She HAS to meet him!

King Midas wasn't only looking for a dragon slayer. He was looking for a son. Guess who walks around the corner? It's none other than his stuck-up daughter Princess Abigail, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Kathryn. Fake James only wishes to return to his farm, but King George tells him he must otherwise his farm will be turned to ashes.

David is walking the streets, looking for the toll bridge when he runs into Regina. This woman is everywhere and she probably doesn't even get paid overtime. She gives him directions, yet has a strange "evil witch" glare on her face while doing so.

Mary Margaret waits while David gets turned around. He enters Mr. Gold's pawn shop. He's given directions, again, and turns to leave but is stopped, again. A windmill catches his eye. He remembers.

A heart wrenching scene is shared between Fake James and his mother. They must never see each other again. She gives her ring to him to put on his wife's finger. This is what David remembers as he reaches Mary Margaret at the bridge. He feels that going back to Kathryn is the right thing to do. How lame is that!

On night patrol, Emma spots someone hopping out of a second story window. It's her boss, Sheriff Graham, leaving Regina's home. "This is disgusting," she says. I agree!

David returns home and they agree to see where things go. Prince Fake James enters the carriage with Abigail towards their marriage. A familiar raven haired girl waits in the trees for an ambush. Mary Margaret returns to the diner, tears falling when Dr. Whale, the same doctor who told her to quit her job at the hospital, makes his third move this season. And it looks as though she just might allow it this time.

Next week on Once Upon a Time, the curse is finally being challenged. It looks as though Sheriff Graham will remember his involvement as a soldier for The Evil Queen's army. Yet to remember their past may cost someone their life.
