Awards season is already upon us, and at this point we’re having an idea as to who could possibly receive the most critical acclaim from the films released this year. For one, the nominees for the 13th Satellite Awards have been released. The International Press Academy will be honoring this year’s best performances in film and television on ceremonies in December 14.
Among the forerunners are the films
Slumdog Millionaire and
Milk, which each earned six nominations, including Best Drama Picture.
Meryl Streep grabbed two acting nominations: one for
Mamma Mia! and another for
Doubt. Other notable nominees are
Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, which snagged three; and the late
Heath Ledger, who took his first posthumous acting nomination for his take on
The Dark Knight. After the jump, (most, at least, of) the nominees for this year’s Satellites.
