It's been a while since the conclusion
of Project Runway All Stars
and Mondo Guerra's redemptive win, and while the casting for Project Runway
's next season is under way, we could use a little time within the crazy fashion world in the interim. So here's some bit of Project Runway
"news" for you: Mondo has cut his trademark hair!
Yes, last week when he showed up to host a fashion event in Denver
(where he's based), the petite designer sported a new look, described as "a flat Mohawk."
He essentially shaved the hair on his sides, saying he was inspired by "a kid he had seen on Dance Moms Miami
," which could only mean Lucas Triani, the sole male dancer on the new Dance Moms
spin-off (personally, we think the young boy's hair looks more like Mondo, pre-cut -- see below).
This buzz (ha, ha) around his new 'do led us to reflect on Mondo's past hairstyles during his two seasons on Project Runway
. Though the topic of male hair is largely ignored as one-note, this fashion designer has proven you can do a lot with even short hair - you just need a blow dryer, styling products and a closet of hats and other hair accessories. Take a look at the many styles Mondo sported:
The Project Runway
winner also recently showed a new collection
at Fashion Week El Paseo in Palm Springs and has been asked to help cast the designers for the upcoming Project Runway
season 10 (he says he's seen "a lot of really talented designers," which is good news for us!) Also, his Neiman Marcus collection is completed and will be in stores this fall. On top of all that, he's got a few side projects he's working on - to get all the details, watch his update video blog below:
