Star of teen flick
Orange County and son of Hollywood top gun Tom Hanks Colin Hanks is joining the cast of the award-winning AMC television series
Mad Men for a three-episode arc starting last week August 17, Sunday, with an episode entitled “Three Sundays.” It is unclear, however, if the three episodes will be in a single storyline, or they will be spread throughout the remainder of the season.
Hanks, who will also star in an upcoming flick called
The House Bunny with Anna Faris, will play a young priest visiting the church that Peggy's family attends.
House Bunny, which recently debut in theaters, is about a Playboy bunny who was thrown out of the mansion and ends up in a sorority house with “socially clueless” girls.
Hanks, 30, is best known for the lead role in the sci-fi drama series
Roswell from 1999 to 2001. He also appeared in an episode of
The OC, plus the HBO miniseries
Band of Brothers. Most recently, he starred in the crime thriller
Untraceable with Diane Lane, where he played FBI Agent Griffin who worked with colleague and friend, Lane. He also had a supporting role in the 2005 remake of
King Kong, while he made a small cameo in
Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny with Jack Black.
Mad Men is the most Emmy-nominated drama on television, with 16 nominations, which includes the hotly contested Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama for main man
Jon Hamm, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama for
John Slattery, and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama for Robert Morse. The ad agency drama comes from the executive producer of
The Sopranos.
