Former 'Lizzie McGuire' Actress Glad to be Single
Hilary Duff, who first rose to fame by starring in the Disney series, Lizzie McGuire, has decided to put off being in a relationship for the meantime.  The singer-actress made the decision following a series of hard break-ups, the most recent of which was with Good Charlotte singer, Joel Madden.

“Obviously, I haven't jumped into a relationship, and I haven't met someone that really excites me.  I would rather be alone and learn about myself," Duff told Ryan Seacrest during KIIS-FM radio show.

Duff, who has successfully transitioned from acting to singing, split from Madden in November, also pointed out that being single has given her more independence and time for work.

"It has not been the easiest thing to do but it has been the thing that has made me feel like a really independent girl.  I would love to have a great boyfriend, but right now is not the time and I can work and whatever,” the former Lizzie McGuire actress said.

A short while after Hilary Duff and Madden went their separate ways, news broke out that the 24-year-old lead vocalist of Good Charlotte was seeing The Simple Life star, Nicole Richie.  In the radio morning show, Duff admitted that her ex-boyfriend’s new relationship had an impact on her.

"When you break up with someone, you have to deal with the fact that you are going to see them with someone else.  It affected me, of course," she said.

Although Duff is waiting patiently for the right man to come along, she revealed in a separate interview that she does not believe in the concept of “soulmates,” and is even doubtful that she will spend her entire life with just one partner.

"I don't believe in having one partner for your whole life, but I hope I get married,” Hilary Duff told The Post Chronicle. “I want to have a husband and two kids and a nice little life baking pies.”

At present, Duff is busy taking care of her budding music career.  A few months after Lizzie McGuire stopped airing in 2004, Duff came out with her self-titled debut album.  She has, since then, released three more studio albums, the latest being Dignity, which contains the singles “Stranger,” “With Love” and “Dignity.”
