Adam Beach is a Canadian actor who was born on November 11, 1972 in Ashern, Manitoba, and is of Salteaux heritage. He appears as one of the members of the cast in the NBC network's crime drama television series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Beach grew up with two brothers on the Dog Creek Indian Reserve, yet when he was eight years old, his mother was killed in an accident caused by drunk driving. Not long after that, his father also died in a boating accident. Chester Lake is portrayed by Adam Beach in the NBC network's television show Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. He is introduced towards the end of the eighth season of the show. He works as a detective, and is of Native American descent. Lake speaks quite proudly of his forebears, who helped build the city of New York as ironworkers. For the preceding three generations of his clan, every man of the family was an ironworker.
