Although early indications suggest no foul play was involved, the cause of death of Brittany Murphy could not be determined just yet. The 32-year-old actress evidently collapsed in the bathroom of her Los Angeles home and died Sunday after going into cardiac arrest at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Get to know Brittany Murphy here. Although an autopsy was performed by the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner the day after Murphy's death, "the cause of death has been DEFERRED pending the receipt of additional toxicological tests and tissue studies that have been ordered by the deputy medical examiner." The statement from the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner also said that "there will be no final ruling as to the cause and manner of death until all of the requested test results have been received and reviewed in context with the autopsy findings. It is anticipated that this process may take approximately 4 to 6 weeks or more."
Meanwhile, rumors are already swirling about a possible drug overdose and a possible anorexia connection to how Brittany Murphy died. The Los Angeles police are not ruling out these possibilities and are now looking into the actress' medical history.
According to Murphy's family, though, the actress was ill with flu-like symptoms in the days prior to her death. And since the reported illness could be a contributing factor to her death, prescription medications were already taken from Murphy's home, while her personal physician will also be questioned to get a better sense of her medical history.
