Twelve-year-old Anjay from Pearland, Texas looks up to Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson as his admired leaders, and believes that grown ups should listen more to kids nowadays. An aspiring neurological surgeon, this Hindu child likes to read Dilbert and Garfield comics and books such as the
Harry Potter series,
Dark Materials trilogy and
Warriors series. Anjay listens to classical and country music and enjoys eating cream soda and pizza. He also is part of Dawson High School's Marching Band and gives importance to education for the youth.
Anjay is one of 40 kids participating in CBS'
Kid Nation, a reality show featuring children governing the deserted Bonanza City, New Mexico. There, they shall attempt to build an empire of smart children who think they might be able to change the world. Every episode ends with a town meeting wherein a child is awarded a gold star worth $20,000.
