It's time to return to Kentucky! We we last saw US Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), he saved Loretta McGready from the money hunting Dickie Bennett, witnessed Ellstin Limehouse chop off Robert Quarles's (Neal McDonough) arm, and dealt with the revelation that his father may have tried to kill him to protect Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins).

Regardless, Arlo Givens (Raymond J. Barry) protected his "son," Boyd, by confessing to Devil's murder, thereby getting Boyd sprung from prison. What a mess!

Spoiler alert: This preview contains some Justified spoilers for this week's episode. I don't reveal any huge spoilers, but read at your own risk.

In Justified's season 4 premiere, Raylan decides to take on a side job to collect a bounty. He has a kid coming to support after all. This quick side trip ends up becoming complicated when Raylan has to make a stop in Harlan County.

Raylan meets up with Bob Sweeney (Patton Oswalt) to deal with a break in at Arlo's house. They've known each other years and attending high school together. Sweeney's character and Oswalt's portrayal bring some much appreciated humor and lightness to an otherwise dark show. And, you have to love Sweeney's car ... lights and all!

Elsewhere, Boyd, now out of prison, is back to running drugs and handles an associate of his that owes him money. An old military pal of Boyd's, Colton Rhodes (Ron Eldard), comes looking for him. Their reunion leads to a deadly consequence.

Religion comes into play again when Boyd feels the repercussions from a Pentecostal preacher who manipulates his followers and has an affection for snakes. Will Boyd return to his holy days? Or, continue in his criminal path?

Other teases from the premiere:

  • The premiere opens with a flashback to 30 years ago that leads to shocking outcome, which launches into a deeper story this season.
  • Raylan is still spending time with Lindsey, the bartender.
  • Ava's beating of Ellen May is not forgotten.
  • There's a man in a bear suit. Yep!
  • Not surprising for Justified -- people get tied up, beat up, and shot. Though, there is a hug or two also.
  • Raylan and Boyd don't interact at all and supposedly won't until episode 5. I'm going to miss them together.
