Based on the Canadian hit series
Just for Laughs Gags,
Just for Laughs is a hidden-camera show that brings forth humor and absurdity to viewers, as well as to unsuspecting “victims.”
Hosted by Rick Miller,
Just for Laughs marks the first ever made-for-Canada television series to be broadcast on a major U.S. network. It features clever hidden camera pranks, funny practical jokes and other creative antics aimed for people who go about their daily business on the streets, parks, or the mall. Comedy sinks in as the show catches people off-guard and captures their hilarious surprised reaction.
Famed for its origin, the comedy show comes from its annual festival, which is the world’s largest and most prestigious comedy event that draws in millions of participants and the world’s top comics. Several performances from the festival and “canned bits” shot on location around Montreal are featured on the show for a good mix of entertainment. Seen in 125 countries and over 95 airlines around the world, the show cuts across cultural boundaries with its universal appeal that entertains audiences of all ages and demographics.
Previously broadcast in the U.S. on MTV, Showtime, HBO, BBC America and Fox,
Just for Laughs currently airs every Tuesday at 8:30/7:30c on ABC. In an attempt to strengthen its summer lineup, ABC has ordered additional episodes of the comedy show for its Tuesday night primetime lineup, making the half-hour comedy into an hour filled with laughter beginning August 6 at 8/7c.
Just for Laughs is produced by Pierre Girard and is broadcast with Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning.
