Singer-songwriter and band member Nicholas “Nick” Jerry Jonas was born on September 16, 1992 in Dallas, Texas but grew up in Wyckoff, New Jersey. He was just six years old when he was discovered while singing at a barber shop. He was immediately referred to a professional talent manager and after one year, he was already performing on Broadway. Among the plays he acted in were Annie Get Your Gun, A Christmas Carol, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables and The Sound of Music. His commitment to acting even caused him to miss out on a family vacation just to be in a play.
In 2002, he performed a self-composed song entitled “Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)” for the album Broadway’s Greatest Gifts: Carols for a Cure, Vol. 4. The song was released by INO Records to a Christian radio in 2003 and it entered the Record & Radio Christian Adult Contemporary Chart.
Nick Jonas enjoys baseball and is a fan of the New York Yankees. His favorite baseball player is Derek Jeter. Truly a baseball buff, his hobbies include collecting baseball cards. When it comes to football, he cheers for the Dallas Cowboys. During his spare time, Nick can be found playing tennis and golf.
His favorite actors are Jack and Bobby stars Matt Long and Kei Lynn Pratt.
In the music industry, he looks up to Stevie Wonder and enjoys the music of Fall Out Boy. Not surprisingly, the song that he never gets tired of listening to is “Superstition.” A musician himself, Nick plays the piano, the drums, and the electric and acoustic guitars. He owns a dozen of guitars.
Nick likes to spread these words of wisdom: “It doesn't matter if the world is pulling you down. With Christ you have everything.” Another principle he lives by is this: “Live like you're at the bottom even if you’re at the top.”
In 2005, he and his brothers Joseph and Kevin formed the Jonas Brothers band. To date, the group has released three Billboard chart-topping albums entitled It's About Time, Jonas Brothers and Jonas Brothers: Bonus Jonas Edition. Among their hit singles were “Mandy,” “Year 3000,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” “Kids of the Future” and “Hold On.” They also won Best Group at the 2008 Nickelodeon’s Kid Choice Awards.
Nick Jonas can be seen on Disney Channel’s realty TV series Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream. The show follows the pop rock band as they travel around North America for the Look Me In The Eyes Tour. Aside from concerts, the show will also feature behind-the-scenes looks as the brothers rehearse, travel and interact with their families and friends.
