But don't worry -- it's only temporary. Fringe is still coming back for that final season.

Filming of Fringe season 5 has been halted for the moment so one of the show's stars can seek medical treatment. Keep reading for details on the stop and on when production should resume.

According to reports (mentioned first by TVLine), the final season of Fringe has temporarily stopped production so that star John Noble can seek treatment for a sleep disorder. The issue -- apparently not a new one for the Australian actor -- came up after extreme scheduling exacerbated Noble's condition.

Reports point out that John Noble had tired himself out by flying from Australia to California for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, followed by immediate travel to Vancouver for filming of Fringe season 5. Filming began on Wednesday, July 18. Noble worked until Tuesday, when scenes were shot without him.

While John Noble receives treatment for the sleep disorder, Fringe will remain on production halt. Currently, producers hope to resume filming on August 7, giving the actor a two-week break. This still leaves about 7 weeks before the first episode is due to air.

There is no word as to where the 63-year-old Noble would seek treatment during the two-week delay in filming.

A surprise renewal by FOX this past spring, Fringe will have a 13-episode final season before concluding its run at some point this winter. The show has been plagued by low ratings for several seasons and has only remained on the FOX schedule due to intense fan support and some apparent love from Fringe's network.

Fringe season 5 will premiere on Friday, September 28 at 9pm on FOX.
