Charlie Day was born on February 9, 1976. He attended Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island and went to Merrimack College in Massachusetts. He played the role of Michael Boscorelli in NBC's Third Watch, a television drama about the adventures of firefighters and police officers in New York City. Charlie is now married to Mary Elizabeth Ellis, his co-star in the FX sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where he is also an executive producer and a writer, along with Rob McElhenney .

Charlie Kelly can be regarded as the loser among his working companions in Paddy's Pub, where he is a co-owner. He is poor, a potential dyslexic, and considerably slow when it comes to learning. He is assigned to do the most disgusting tasks at the bar. Eventually, he will share his sofa-bed with Frank Reynolds , a divorced, middle-aged guy who bought a share of Paddy's.

-Charlie's favourite comedy shows are the British version of 'The Office' and 'Flight of the Conchords'.

-Charlie is a talented piano player, he learned from a young age and plays the keyboard for the song 'Day Man' in the It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia episode 'Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person' (Season 3, Episode 9).

-On the 9th July 2007 a wikipedia user submitted information on Charlie's death, this was later found to be false, Charlie heard the rumour and placed a messege on his Myspace page stating 'Dead no. Dead inside, maybe a little'.

-Charlie and his It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia co-stars Glenn Howerton and Rob McElhenney have wrote a new space themed comedy for the FOX network titled Boldly Going Nowhere

-We were just in our apartment, pointing the camera at each other, taking turns holding it and saying lines, All of a sudden, 'Sunny' became a series.

(On living in LA)
-I love LA because I can have space, sunlight, good weather and play a little golf. There's not too much I hate about LA other than the commutes.

(On the debates of writing a show)
-A lot of debate goes into the writing but I don't think a show can be destroyed. It's a TV show not an embryo.

-How much am I like him? Well, I have never gotten drunk and refereed a basketball game, but I have gotten drunk and I have played basketball, so there you go.
