Jerry Trainor was born on April 27, 1977, and his original birth name was Gerald William Trainor. He stands at 6’ 2”, and weighs 170 lbs. His mother works as a calculus teacher at his alma mater, the University of San Diego High School, which is now known as Cathedral Catholic High School. Among the television series that Trainor has acted in are Malcolm in the Middle, My Wife and Kids, Crossing Jordan, and Drake and Josh. He has also worked on a number of feature films such as Donnie Darko, Bring It On Again, Wrong Hollywood Number, and Pieces of Dolores.

Spencer Shay is portrayed by Jerry Trainor in the Nickelodeon television sitcom series iCarly. He is 26 years old, and Carly’s older brother. While he has a reputation as an eccentric artist, he exhibits relatively normal behavior. Spencer is also Carly’s legal guardian, while their father continues to render service as a soldier of the military and the armed forces. He has an outgoing personality, with a tendency to muse out loud or blurt out an idea the moment it strikes him. Spencer was originally studying to become a lawyer, yet dropped out of law school in order to pursue a career in art instead.
