I Love New York: VH1's Reality Superstars Walk Down Memory Lane

While some are sad to see their favorite dating shows come to an end, others are excited to find out what will become of the newfound romances spawned from shows such as Rock of Love, I Love New York and even Flavor of Love.  The stars of the aforementioned shows recently spoke with USA Today to look back on their journey on reality TV.  Reality stars present for the nice morning chat were Bret Michaels, Tiffany Pollard, Flava Flav and couple Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry of My Fair Brady.

While at Sunset Boulevard's Social Hollywood, the stars revealed their thoughts about why viewers enjoy their shows and how has life been following their reality TV stints.

As for the reason behind the massive ratings of reality series such as the aforementioned, New York says, "People get hooked.  They want to see what's going to happen, who's going home.  With some of the shows, you get to see people open up and be themselves."

However, most audiences are mistaken about these reality shows.  Due to the fact that they are tagged as reality dating games, audiences expect the bachelor or bachelorette to land a real relationship, which oftentimes require more time to develop than the time frame of the series itself.

In fact, Bret Michaels admits that he didn't exactly go into Rock of Love hoping to find love.  He says that at the beginning of the show, "I was very open.  I said I don't know if I'm looking for love.  I'm looking for someone I can really like a lot."

Eventually, he says that "I [became] very close to them and it comes down to something...Ambre, for me, was the one I felt most connected to in every physical, emotional, on every level.  And I really left there thinking something great came from it. Whether it lasts the test of time."

While some contenders are in it for finding a real relationship, we have to admit that others are just there for the fame.  In fact, New York recognizes that, saying, "there are going to be people who show up there solely for television purposes."

However, she admits to believing that love can occur anytime and anywhere.  New York says, "As the group got smaller, at least for me, I started to see genuine feelings.  I think love can work on television, in the laundromat, anywhere."

Fans could catch more of New York as she heads to Hollywood with her new reality series, which debuts on August 4 on VH1.
