There's the Ice Show, the traveling musical, the DVDs, the board games, the novels and now, there's the video game. High School Musical: Sing It has been released on both the Sony Playstation 2 and the Nintendo Wii, with hundreds of thousands of copies having already been sold.  This just marks the next step in High School Musical's quest for world domination, though the response to the video game has been only so-so.  However, High School Musical fans probably aren't too interested in video game reviews when they're getting the opportunity to perform their favorite High School Musical songs as there favorite High School Musical characters.

High School Musical: Sing It
comes with a microphone and, basically, you sing karaoke on up to 24 songs from both High School Musical and High School Musical 2.  You can choose any one of your favorite characters and then you sing along into the microphone while the lyrics flash across the screen.  The microphone can tell if you're singing in tune or not, and you get points for your accuracy.  There are a number of game modes, and even a story mode where you go through the plot of the movies while singing the songs.

Some of the complaints regarding the game are its mediocre graphics, which indicate that Disney and company moved the game through production quickly.  Also, the story mode is very easy and doesn't take very long at all to complete.  The biggest gripe, at least to me, is that it's unclear to the player how you unlock hidden songs and characters and venues.  But, overall, if you're a fan of High School Musical, you'll probably love High School Musical: Sing It.  The game is currently retailing for $59.99, but that includes the microphone.
