As we've said, there won't be a
High School Musical 4. However, we bet Disney saw how difficult it is to let go of the million-dollar franchise, especially its "fabulous" star. The others, as we all know, have moved on.
Check Out Corbin Bleu on In the Heights and Zac Efron Eyeing Flash Gordon RoleAshley Tisdale's rep confirmed to
Just Jared that the 24-year-old actress will indeed be headlining a spin-off of the series soon, titled
Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. It's going to be another Disney Channel Original Movie and is expected to premiere in 2011.
According to
E! Online,
Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure follows the East High drama queen as she heads off to Broadway with her dog, Boi. We'll be spotting that painfully pink car all over New York City then, as Sharpay searches for her own brand of success. We know she can't always play second fiddle to Gabriella, who
MTV News says is currently busy getting
Beastly.
Ashley Tisdale's blog states that, "Sharpay quickly finds out that making it big in the Big Apple is not as easy as she thought and she has to temper her expectations somewhat if she's going to thrive." Well, if she can pull off bop-bop-bopping then she may have a shot at Broadway. Unfortunately, there are far too many obstacles to the center of the stage.
Throughout
Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure, the star will be meeting new friends and making new enemies.
TV Guide reports that there's a student-filmmaker named Callem who'll be around to accompany her, as well as a rival starlet.
Joining her in the cast will be a bunch of unknowns (as of now), since none of the original
High School Musical actors has signed on. Does that mean no Ryan and his quirky collection of hats? So far, there's been no mention of Lucas Grabeel returning for the movie though, which is a shame.
Find Out What Lucas Grabeel Has Been Up ToAside from being the star of the show, Ashley Tisdale will also serve as executive producer for
Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. Production for the movie will kick off this summer, so we better watch out for more of this Disney diva once the film airs next year.
