This volume of
Heroes is called “Villains,” and when I hear that, I think that it means the villains will come to power and do some serious damage. Thus far, three major or semi-important characters have died: Adam Monroe, Maury Parkman and now Elle Bishop. What do they have in common? They were all villains.
Ironically, all three were also killed by fellow villains. I know bad guys aren't to be trusted, but surely there are better people for them to kill than each other. The cast is loaded with heroes, yet they all manage to elude death. Last night, Claire died, but it only lasted until the eclipse was over. Peter tried to sacrifice himself to save his brother, but then Nathan came back to rescue him. HRG almost got his skull sliced open, but Hiro teleported in to save him.
Heroes needs to stop this pattern and kill off a good guy, preferably someone in the opening credits. Obviously the show isn't afraid to do this, having killed Isaac, Kaito, Niki, D.L. and a few others in the first two seasons, but now that the villains get the spotlight, the good guy body count is disturbingly low.
In its first three seasons,
Lost killed off Boone, Shannon, Ana Lucia, Libby and Mr. Eko. On
Heroes, the stakes are even greater, and the death toll should be bigger. I knew the show wouldn't kill off Claire or Peter, but that's only because my expectations are so low. They would never dare to kill a major star like
Milo Ventimiglia or
Hayden Panettiere, and that's what would make their death so powerful.
At this point, much as I love him, I'd support killing Hiro if it would help make the show more unpredictable and raise the stakes. Or Matt Parkman. Or Nathan Petrelli. Those are the big five heroes, and I desperately want one of them to die. I really don't care who it is, so long as they die, stay dead, and this show stops killing off the interesting villains its creating.

Best in Show
Best Quote: “I'm expendable.” - Peter, explaining why he should stay behind and making more sense than he ever has before.
Best Scene: The Claire/Hiro Debate. The best part about 9th Wonders is that it allows the show to comment on itself, and as Breckin Meyer brilliantly pointed out, Hiro and Claire have never shared a scene together until last night. It was a cute commentary on the separation of the show, and finally allowed them to cross that off the list of things
Heroes needed to do.
Best User Comment: "Do the writers just want to kill of the characters that the fans actually like?" -
lornawolbert2, who actually liked the episode, proving that even the people who remain diehard
Heroes fans are questioning the writers' decisions.
