Star and Director of 'Hannah Montana: The Movie' Turn Down Sequel
Though there’s still ten days left to the premiere of Hannah Montana: The Movie, fans are already hoping for a sequel.  However, it looks as though their pleas won’t be heard.  It just isn’t the way Miley Cyrus is willing to go, and movie director Peter Chelsom, is backing her up.  This month’s big screen Disney hit will indeed be the last film for the TV series.

Miley held a press conference recently and answered E! Online’s question regarding a second Hannah Montana movie.  “I feel like...this is a TV show,” she said.  “We were really lucky to have enough material to make one movie.  To do another one takes away a lot of the reality.”

She continued to explain: “It was very clever the way, in the movie, we reveal Hannah Montana, but we didn't make [the plot] in a way that makes another season unrealistic.  We're all doing a season three, and we all wish to do a season four.  So I don't know if I would do another film, but we would love to do another season.”

Meanwhile, music director Chelsom said in a follow-up interview that doing another flick would be based on whatever decision the reigning Disney princess makes.  “I don’t know what else there would be to say,” he explained.  “I suppose there’s a chance, but I have a feeling Miley wants to do other stuff.”

He’s definitely excited to see what the star would eventually come up with.  Chelsom admitted that he had never heard of the musician was when he was approached to do Hannah Montana: The Movie.  It was only through Cyrus’ appearance on Oprah that he found out.

“I was blown away,” he exclaimed.  “I just thought, you know there is no way this girl shouldn’t be ranked with Shirley Temple or Judy Garland.”  He even went to see a Miley concert in Miami and compared the teenage superstar to Barbra Streisand.

“She was 15 for the whole making of the movie…Was Barbra doing that at 15? I don’t think so.”

Despite being impressed with Cyrus, he maintains that there’d be no Hannah Montana 2.  Still, we won’t be seeing the last of Miley on the big screen.  Novelist Nicholas Sparks wrote a film part just for her, even before he came up with a companion book.  Titled The Last Song, the movie will begin filming in the summer.
