The 17-year-old Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus seems to have hit a temporary roadblock in her career as an actress. The Disney sensation has been nominated for a Razzie award, which celebrates the worst in Hollywood for the past year.
According to Us Magazine, the pop singer/songwriter is up for the Worst Actress of 2009 category for her performance in Hannah Montana: The Movie. It certainly isn't one title she wants to be proud of if she wins, unless she feels she'll learn from the experience.
Going up against Miley Cyrus is the 23-year-old Megan Fox, who starred in
Jennifer's Body and
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Both didn't really earn her critical acclaim, and the same goes for the
Hannah Montana star. They may have billions of fans rallying behind them, but the Razzies are out to prove them all wrong.
Also nominated for the category are Beyonce for
Obsessed, Sarah Jessica Parker for
Did You Hear About the Morgans? and Sandra Bullock for
All About Steve. Beyonce doesn't really need to worry since she already broke a record for most Grammy Awards won on a single night, but this is acting. It's a different arena.
Still, Miley has some friends to support her through her Razzie nomination. Well, sort of. Apparently the Jonas Brothers have also been put up for Worst Actor of 2009.
The three siblings have been nominated because of their performance in
Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience. Joining them are Will Ferrell for
Land of the Lost, Steve Martin for
Pink Panther 2, Eddie Murphy for
Imagine That and John Travolta for
Old Dogs.
Whether or not Miley Cyrus will take home this not-so-coveted award will be decided soon, but we're going to have to wait a month more. The Razzies will be given to the winners (or losers, if you wish to call them that) on March 6, right before the Oscars. And we're pretty sure the
Hannah Montana star isn't getting one of the latter yet. Nor is she hurrying to obtain the former.
